Bright, sunny Calendula offers comforting, anti-inflammatory benefits to topical skin preparations. Prized for its ability to soothe inflamed and irritated skin, Calendula provides gentle support to encourage healing and recovery.

We grow an abundance of Calendula on our North Idaho farm; we delight in the striking color of their blooms and the deep, rich green of their leaves and stems among the garden beds. We've come to appreciate its energy as warm, bright, comforting, and optimistic.

Harvested at their peak, Calendula flowers are incredibly sticky thanks to the abundance of beneficial resin that coats them. We collect the open blooms daily to ensure their freshness and ensure a continuous harvest throughout their growing season. 

When collected, the colorful, resin-rich flowers are either immediately distilled into pure, premium Calendula hydrosol or placed in the dehydrator to prepare them for infusion. We love the hydrosol for use in soothing reactive skin, as a cooling spray to relieve sunburn, and as an astringent facial toner or setting spray.

While we have a number of formulations that rely on Calendula alone, Calendula also plays a key role as one part of one of our favorite ingredients, Trauma Oil. Trauma oil is a blend of three macerated oils—Calendula, St. John's wort, and Arnica—that are combined for greater efficacy. Several of our formulas for pain, inflammation, and muscle aches feature Calendula in Trauma Oil to bring its benefit to the resulting blend.
